Before the Bomb
On May 13, 1985, Police Commissioner Sambor read an arrest warrant for four MOVE members but was quickly told that no one would come out. This resulted in a gun battle that lasted an hour and a half. The police fired ten thousand rounds of ammunition. City Councilman Lucien Blackwell and Channel 10 cameraman, Pete Kane, who watched the days events; both say that police didn't fire directly at the home. They fired up over the roof or angled shots away from the house. Kane also says that the gunfire that came from the house so severe that it caused great damage to the homes across the street. The MOVE headquarters was also sprayed by 50 million gallons of water and tear gas.
